Haiku has been described as a moment in time captured in words that
somehow captures more than the words might seem to convey. When the
poet and the reader connect and the deeper meaning is seen, it is called
an "aha" moment. That moment is what the haiku poet is always trying
to find. I find photos that give me that experience. Over the years I
collected some photo's that I felt conveyed more than just the image,
that spoke to me. I have had the good fortune to find others willing to
share their visions and vision with me, and allowed me to share them with
you.
The Visual Haiku pages were started as an experiment more than 10 years
ago when the concept of "photo haiku" was relatively new, and not accepted
as a legitimate art form by many. Good to say, the opposition to this
mode of expression has diminished, and my experiment has ended. Because of
a very busy schedule, I am no longer accepting haiku for posting with these
images, however, the images and the haiku they inspired will stay here for
your enjoyment for as long as I am here.
Please continue to go through the images that I have selected and see if
any of them inspire you to write a haiku. The thumbnails below link to the
images, proceed and enjoy.
Namaste,
soji
